Dr. Tiara Thomas, grew up in the north DFW metroplex and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and minored in Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she received her Doctorate of Optometry O.D. and was recognized with multiple awards for her leadership and dedication to the program, students, and patients. During her time in optometry school, Dr. Thomas dedicated her efforts to improving the quality of the program and she became a voice for the students as the President of the Optometric Student Association and was elected as Graduation Speaker for her commencement ceremony.
Dr. Thomas completed her clinical rotations helping an under-served population at Cedar Springs Eye Clinic in Dallas, a community clinic where she gained experience in the management of severe ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and specialized equipment. She also travelled to Oklahoma and provided full service optometric care including laser procedures for the Cherokee Nation among varying clinics in the Rural Eye Program. She has experience with managing ocular complications from chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, keratoconus, cataracts, and dry eye.
Dr. Thomas believes in providing customized holistic ocular care to each patient while keeping the encounter interactive. Outside of optometry, Dr. Thomas enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, discovering fun food places, and exploring what the world has to offer.
